How it Happened
Following a one hour rain delay, Denver Summit FC battled to a 2-1 victory over Seattle Reign FC in front of a sold-out crowd of 12,272 at Centennial Stadium on Saturday night. With the win, the Summit extended their home unbeaten streak to five games dating back to Aug. 8. The three critical points pull Denver (10th, 35 points) within one point of Angel City (9th, 36 points) and two of Seattle (8th, 37 points), just below the playoff line.
Denver Summit made their first move late in the first half, with midfielder Delanie Sheehan finding the back of the net in the 45th minute for her second goal of the season and first since scoring at Houston on May 9. Lindsey Heaps recorded the assist, giving the co-captain a goal contribution in three-consecutive matches. The goal capped a tight first half in which Denver held Seattle to just a single shot, tying the team’s fewest allowed in any half this season.
The Summit entered the second half firing, seeing a 50th minute goal from Tash Flint, her sixth of the season, tied for the second-most on the squad. The visitors quickly answered as Brittany Ratcliffe found the back of the net in the 54th minute to spoil the shutout and clean sheet, but the Summit defense stood firm to preserve the victory.

- At the conclusion of the match, Sonis sits in fourth in the NWSL Golden Boot Race with 11 goals and five assists.
- Tash Flint brought her goal contribution to 10: six goals and four assists … only Sonis (16) and Yazmeen Ryan (11) have more among Summit players.
- Denver has scored 25 goals at home this season, trailing only North Carolina (26) and Kansas City (28) in home scores … The Summit’s nine multi-goal home games this season for Denver are tied for the most with Kansas City.
