After a quiet start to the match, hometown hero Lindsey Heaps tipped the scales in the 42nd minute to put Denver on the board. Off a smooth pass from Natalie Means, her first career assist, Heaps found the back of the net for the second time in as many matches, her first two scores in a Summit uniform. Co-Captain Janine Sonis doubled the advantage for Denver in the 57th minute, netting her 11th goal of the season on a cross from Yazmeen Ryan, her career-high tying fifth assist of the season.
The Denver advantage held until the 72nd minute when Bay’s Claire Hutton, with an assist from Taylor Huff, spoiled the shutout with her second goal of the season. Bay FC continued to press late into the match and in stoppage time, Huff delivered the latest goal in Bay FC club history to solidify the 2-2 final score.
The draw keeps Denver unbeaten on home soil, with the team not falling to an opponent at Centennial Stadium in four-straight matches while going 3-1-3 through its last seven overall.

Sonis‘ goal was her 11th of the season, and eighth at home … scoring in back-to-back matches, with three in her last four contests, the tally moved Sonis into fifth in the Golden boot race … the assist for Ryan marked her fifth of the season, topping the Summit and giving her the third five-assist season of her career (24 – Gotham; ‘22 – Portland).
Scoring 24 goals in the second half this season, and 12 in the opening 15 minutes, Denver tops the league in both categories, alongside outscoring their opponents 14-4, with fourth straight multi-goal performances, in their last four contests.
With the Summit tallying the first goal, Bay have not seen a win when conceding first in 35 consecutive matches.
With a total of 17 shots inside the box, and 10 shots on target, Denver tied their season records in both categories.
